How many of you use the scythe ranger?
I know it is perfectly valid ....just wanted to see does any veteran player run it in PVE or PVP? how effective is it?

I use scythe ranger in PvE all the time when I H/H, since the AI can't handle running aroud in melee... it really does some impressive damage...
I run 12+1+1 Expertise and 12 Scythe Mastery, and the following skill bar:
[Mystic Sweep][Eremite's Attack][Reaper's Sweep][Lightning Reflexes][Dwarven Stability][By Ural's Hammer][Aura of Holy Might][Resurrection Signet]

works well in AB...
I have used an Escape scythe ranger many times in AB; it is a very effective build. The PVX build imho isn’t meant for AB, I kept half the build the same and tweaked in the other half.

I also use a scythe build for pve, it's a variant of the wiki build. It works well with a discordway.
[Wounding Strike][Crippling Sweep][Lyssa's Assault][Eremite's Attack][Dwarven Stability][Lightning Reflexes][Great Dwarf Armor][I am the strongest]

meh i've used it, tweaked it, and re-used it. It's pretty effective, but kind of lame. It's just not that fun to play imho.
[Escape] is kind of a waste of an elite, i'd rather go [wounding strike] or just use a bow and take [broad head arrow] [melandru's shot] or [burning arrow]

I can confirm that.
I too go scythe ranger when I'm playing with my discordnecros.
[Dwarven Stability][Lightning Reflexes][Wounding Strike][Asuran Scan][Reap Impurities][Victorious Sweep][Aura of Holy Might][Resurrection Signet]
This way you can lable targets with conditions and a hex for your discord spammers and you keep a nice amount of dmg off of your heros, so they can safely cast their spells. Swap out [Aura of Holy Might] for something that might suits the situation better.

It's fun to use in AB and RA. Don't know about TA or GvG though. My impression is that R/W Thumper or Turret would be a better choice.
In PvE, would rather use BHA + Epidemic + Splinter (on hero). Mass ownage.

I run this in Jade Quarry quite often:
[Eremite's Attack][Zealous Sweep][Victorious Sweep][Chilling Victory][Escape][Lightning Reflexes][Natural Healing][Antidote Signet]
Extremely effect versus the ranger shrines, squishy monks and sins/warrior without stance removal. Churns out massive AoE damage on the ranger shrines with cheap self-healing and good energy management with a zealous scythe.
EDIT: Spec 12 into Scythe Mastery, 10 into Expertise, 8 into Wind Prayers.

I was thinking of swapping out [chilling victory] for [apply poison]. Is this a bad idea?

scythe rangers work well almost anywhere with the right skills and stuff but a scythe ranger build SHOULD have AoHM to enhance damage, with lyssa's assault for e managemnt if it becomes a problem.....
funny no one mentioned the use of radiant scythe. i kinda love that skill

I have been running this build in PvP and I admit, it is very resilient. I have tried this in Random Arenas, Team Arenas, Zaishen Challenge, Zaishen Elite, and I am looking forward to trying this in Jade Quarry and Fort Aspenwood (just finished NF, starting Factions as a Ranger).
I use this:
[Pious Assault][Victorious Sweep][Eremite's Attack][Antidote Signet][Troll Unguent][Escape][Apply Poison][Resurrection Signet]

I'd drop unguent for rending touch during PVP. Less points have to be put in WS, you will kill much faster, and Antidote signet + Escape + 100 AL vs elemental armor alone makes you a low enough priority target without the regen from troll.
